Vesnina returned to the court an hour after losing the singles title to play the Doubles Final with partner Sania Mirza in a rematch of the 2011 Indian Wells Final, facing Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy. Mirza and Vesnina had won in straight sets at the BNP Paribas Open. As in their semifinal match, Mirza and Vesnina were able to overpower their opponents, and won the title 6-4, 6-4. They were powerful from the baseline, but they also were not afraid to move forward. "I think we've improved on our volleys in the last couple of weeks playing so much and with confidence, and, I think, with confidence, you start to poach more and try to do stuff that normal doubles players would do," Mirza explained. Mirza tried to disagree with her partner's assessment that the Indian has the strongest forehand on tour. Then, Vesnina smiled and quipped, "It's true. I see the eyes of the net player who is guarding this ball from her forehand. It's like, "Oh my God, no, [the] Mirza forehand!"
"We're understanding each other's games a lot better and improvising, and when the other one is not playing as well, the other player picks it up," Mirza said about their new partnership after five tournaments together. This was Mirza's 11th doubles title and the 5th title for Vesnina. They plan on partnering for the rest of the year.
